How can we help you?

We’ve pulled together some frequently asked questions to give you more information about the website and current magazine offerings.

If you have a question that you can’t find the answer to, please contact us at [email protected] or on +61 1300 749 369.

New subscription models from 2021

Why is there a new subscription model commencing in January 2021?

It has been a challenging year for all Australians. We have endeavoured to support the move to a digital environment experienced by a lot of schools and students – by moving content onto a digital platform in a relatively short period of time for online learning. It is now time to reflect on what we have achieved and what our subscribers need in the future.

As a result, we have divided our subscription offering into a print and digital subscription. This allows subscribers the flexibility to access the print magazine, a digital magazine (with resources) or both – depending on your needs.

Everyone can still subscribe to the print offering by The School Magazine – a quality magazine for the same price. This new model allows for some flexibility in what we offer.

What are the new subscription models?

There will be three product offerings from 2021

Print: As a school, organisation or individual, you can subscribe to your chosen magazine each year along with access to a PDF with learning resources tied to content within the magazine.

Digital: As a school or organisation, one digital subscription will allow one teacher access to the e-magazines and a library of digital resources for their class.

As an individual subscriber, the digital subscription will give you 2 options:

  1. access to the e-magazines and library of digital resources for up to 3 students or
  2. access to one e-magazine and PDF learning resources only (no access to the digital resources).

Both: As a school, organisation or individual, if you choose to subscribe to both options above, you may be entitled to a discount on your digital subscription.

These offerings are best outlined in the table below

table outlining the 2 different subscription options available: print and digital

* Our print subscription is only available to Australian customers

** The school can purchase as many digital licenses as required

How will my existing subscription in 2020 be affected in 2021? What is the change?

From 2021, to continue to use the digital content, you will need to purchase a digital license.

Alternatively, you can choose to re-subscribe to the print magazine and receive the print magazine along with access to the learning resources (PDF) for each issue.

When will the new subscription models be available?

The new School Magazine subscription models will be available to purchase now. Any 2021 subscriptions purchased cannot be activated until 1 January 2021.

All current 2020 subscribers can continue to use their current subscription (including access to all digital content) until 31 December 2020.

I currently have a print subscription. Will the digital version be included within my subscription?

From 2021, digital access is not included in your print subscription. If you are already a print subscriber you will soon be able to take advantage of our special upgrade offer where you can add the digital magazine for a special discounted rate.

How much will it all cost?

This depends on a number of factors including your type of school and whether you purchase multiple subscriptions or as an individual. Discounts also apply when you choose to purchase both the digital and print subscriptions for the year.

Our quality print magazine will still be available for the same, low price. Your selected magazine title(s) will be sent to you each month (for 10 months) along with access to learning resources (PDF) relating to each issue. Ensure you purchase a copy for each student requiring a magazine. For example, if you have a Year 3 class of 30 students, you need 30 Countdown magazines ordered.

One digital license will give schools and organisations 1 teacher and their class access to e-magazines and digital resources. For example, if you have four teachers in Year 3 requiring digital access, you will need four digital licenses.

If you choose to purchase both print magazines and digital licenses, you may be entitled to a discount. Discounts are applied to the digital license(s) only and are based on the number of print magazines ordered.

Follow the steps to subscribe to obtain an online quote that you will be able to use.

What devices are your digital subscriptions available on? Which devices can I access the digital edition on?

How do I access my digital subscription?

Digital subscriptions are for the calendar year. So any 2021 digital subscriptions will not be activated until 1 January 2021.

Subscribing

If I place a subscription today online, what issue will I receive?

You will receive all of the back issues for that year starting with issue 1 and then the remainder of the issues that year as they are published. Your order will be for the complete set for that year – all ten issues.

How much does it cost for a subscription to the School Magazine?

One print subscription costs $14 per year (excluding GST and delivery). This includes 10 issues of a magazine per year and online access to a library of resources developed specifically for the magazines.

The NSW Government has subsidised the price of subscriptions for NSW government schools only. One print subscription costs $10 per year (excluding GST and delivery).
