Art has always been in Kimberly's life - her mother is a watercolour artist and her father a photographer. She grew up in the Rocky Mountains of Canada, where many snowy days were spent making picture books from stapled paper. Her favourite book (still!) is A Winter Story by Jill Barklem. Kimberly fell in love the watercolour hedgerow world Jill created. Even today she cannot look at a hollow tree without imagining the rooms and staircases within. She fills her sketchbooks with her own worlds, inspired by her studies as a biologist—working with orangutans in Borneo and dinosaur skeletons at the Natural History Museum in London.
